Legislator Esteban Torres promotes reforms to curb constitutional abuses and streamline the judicial system

Assembly member Esteban Torres presented two bills before the National Assembly aimed at strengthening Ecuador’s judicial system and guaranteeing effective access to justice.

The initiatives correspond to the Organic Reform Bill to the Organic Law on Jurisdictional Guarantees and Constitutional Control, aimed at establishing clearer regulatory parameters for the proper exercise of constitutional actions and preventing their distortion; and the Organic Reform Bill to the General Organic Code of Proceedings, focused on strengthening effective access to justice within ordinary judicial proceedings.

The assembly member highlighted the need to promote reforms that improve the efficiency of the administration of justice, reduce practices that distort the purpose of constitutional mechanisms, and strengthen effective judicial protection.

The assembly member stated that these proposals seek to balance the protection of rights with legal certainty, ensuring that constitutional guarantees and procedural mechanisms fulfill the purpose for which they were created.
